Design Awards 2004
The Integer branded housing development at Alpine Close, Maidenhead has won a prestigious design award from Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.
The project, designed by Bree Day Partnership for Maidenhead & District Housing Association, incorporates many environmentally friendly and sustainable design features. The judges commended the scheme for its innovative design and contribution it has made to the built environment.
The Andrews Partnership was invited to the award ceremony, held in Windsor 's Guildhall, to receive a certificate to acknowledge their part in the creation of the award winning design. Amit Bhamra received the certificate on behalf of the firm from the Mayor of the Royal Borough.
Commenting on the award, Amit Bhamra said “It is very rewarding when our cost planning and value engineering skills help to deliver a viable and award winning project such as this one.”

Southampton Office Relocation
June 2004 - The Southampton offices of The Andrews Group recently relocated into spacious new premises at Compass Point, situated on the outskirts of Hamble village.
Set within a modern development overlooking Southampton Water, it gives the opportunity for expansion of the current team, together with improved provision of services offered to new and existing clients.
Steve May, who leads the team at Southampton commented, “Due to the success of the Southampton operation, our previous space was outgrown in a relatively short time, and we are pleased to have found such pleasant surroundings into which to relocate the larger Southampton office. This will present new challenges for The Andrews Group, and we are looking forward to them”.

The craic at London Irish
The Andrews Partnership are pleased to announce that they have strengthened their corporate links with London Irish by sponsoring first team scrum half Paul Hodgson for the 2004/2005 season.
Senior Partner Kevin Dougall ,who played at Under 21 level with London Irish after leaving school, commented “Personally I am delighted that we are supporting London Irish in this way. There is always a wonderful atmosphere at the Madejski Stadium on match day and, as the Irish would say, the craic is good. On the field, with recent signings such as Mike Catt, the club has demonstrated their commitment to taking London Irish to the very top of European rugby”.

Cole Thompson eScape Housing Design Competition
The Andrews Partnership recently provided cost consultancy services to architect Cole Thompson Associates to support their entry in the eScape Housing Design Competition promoted by David Wilson Homes in association with Design for Homes and the Wood for Good campaign.
Cole Thompson Associates' submission was one of three entries short listed from nearly 650 practices that were challenged to create a fresh model for a townhouse using a menu of pre-selected building components.
The results were announced at the Futures Home Convention held in London during October and Cole Thompson Associates were announced as runners-up.
James Wilson, the Group Development Director of David Wilson Homes, stated that he and the other judges were impressed by their submission.

New Health and Safety Regulations
April 2005 - The Work at Height Regulations 2005 came into
force on 6 April and consolidate previous legislation. The regulations apply
to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal
injury. They place duties on employers, the self-employed, and any person that
controls the work of others to the extent of their control (for example building
owners or occupiers who may contract others to work at height). The regulations
are aimed at maintaining and improving standards for al work at height. Standards
for work above two meters will not change, they are simply being extended to
work at any height.

June 2004 - New regulations on the carriage of dangerous goods by road and rail came into force on 10 May 2004. The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004 consolidate into one set the previously extensive portfolio of over a dozen sets of regulations.

2005 - Chichester based developer Seaward Properties has obtained planning consent for the redevelopment of their site in Potash Terrace, Havant as a retail park. The Andrews Partnership has been appointed as Quantity Surveyor and Employer's Agent. Sister practice, AP Health & Safety Management, has been appointed as Planning Supervisor. Kent Fire and Rescue Service - Asbestos Management
July 2004 - AP Health & Safety Management have been appointed by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to develop and assist in the implementation of an Asbestos Management Plan covering their portfolio of properties. Further information on this project.
Chichester based developer Seaward Properties has obtained planning consent for the redevelopment of their site in Potash Terrace, Havant as a retail park.
When finished, the development will total approximately 85,000ft2 of retail space, including a Drive Thru restaurant. Wickes has already signed to take a 50,000ft2 unit. The building project will involve significant off-site civil engineering works, including the diversion of Park Way. Work is expected to start on site in January 2006.
HGP is the Architect for the scheme. AKS Ward (Structural Engineer), Mayer Brown (Highways Engineer) and Hoare Lea (Services Engineer) are the other designers in the team.
The Andrews Partnership has been appointed as Quantity Surveyor and Employer's Agent. Sister practice, AP Health & Safety Management, has been appointed as Planning Supervisor. The project will be managed from the firm's Southampton office.

The Andrews Partnership (TAP) has been appointed by Global Education Management Systems (GEMS) to manage the £3million transformation of Sherfield School near Basingstoke, previously a girl's boarding school, into a state of the art day school for children of 2 – 19 years of age. Sherfield School will be the flagship amongst GEMS' growing portfolio of independent schools in the United Kingdom.
GEMS is a highly respected global education provider and its current plans for the United Kingdom include new schools on green field sites, as well as the acquisition of existing schools.
TAP's brief was to manage and co-ordinate the delivery of a complete and fully functioning school, that will be ready to open its doors on 7 September 2004. This remit has required the provision of a wide range of specialist management and procurement services.
TAP have managed the procurement of approximately £1million of curriculum resources, furniture and equipment, catering and transport services and extensive ICT & telecoms (hardware and software) installations. This particular part of the brief has involved managing and co-ordinating numerous specialist education sector companies.
GEMS' brief also included a £1.5 million building project, designed by Hamilton Associates, which includes the refurbishment of a Sports Hall, Science and Language laboratories, Design Technology and Art centres, classrooms and administration areas. The former chapel is being sensitively converted to provide modern Early Years facilities. The main school building, Buckfield House, is a Grade II Listed Building.
The spectacular 75 acre grounds will accommodate new playing fields.
June 2004 - The Andrews Partnership have been appointed by Crest Nicholson to work on their prestigious retail centre Riverside in Hemel Hempstead.

Work on the mixed-use development began in December 2003, and currently has circa 50% of the units already pre-let. The 385,000 sq ft development is scheduled to open in time for Christmas 2005.
Retail companies such as Debenhams, Next and HMV were amongst the first to take space, with Premier Lodge signing to a 110 bedroom hotel within the development.
Designed to be the new retail centre of Hemel Hempstead, Riverside will ensure that it is one of the major retail centres to visit in the area.

July 2004 - AP Health & Safety Management have been appointed by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to develop and assist in the implementation of an Asbestos Management Plan covering their portfolio of properties.
During 2003 and early 2004, AP Health & Safety Management undertook asbestos surveys of a number of the Service's retained fire stations, and are now assisting Kent Fire and Rescue Service to gain a complete picture of the asbestos they have within their premises by undertaking asbestos surveys of the remaining fire stations and associated properties.
The development and implementation of the Asbestos Management Plan will ensure that Kent Fire and Rescue Service can successfully manage the risk associated with asbestos, and comply fully with The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2004.
